About Anand District

Anand district — the "Milk Capital of India" — is home to AMUL, the cooperative dairy movement that sparked India's White Revolution under Dr. Verghese Kurien. Situated in central Gujarat on the Mahi river, it is a major hub for education (SPU, CHARUSAT, AAU, and the newly formed TSU), healthcare (Zydus, SKH Karamsad) and the pharmaceutical industry. Carved from Kheda district in 1997, it is well connected by rail (Anand Junction — ANND on WR) and road (NH-48), ~35 km from Vadodara. The upcoming Mumbai–Ahmedabad HSR corridor will feature an Anand-Nadiad station.
